Jennifer Lawrence fan spends $25,000 to look more like the celeb

Popular culture
31 March, 2014

A 30-year-old Jennifer Lawrence fan spent $25,000 on plastic surgery to look like the actress.

The mother of a 5-year-old underwent several procedures, including breasts augmentation, and fat grafts to her cheeks and buttocks.

Kitty the super fan felt she looked like Jennifer Lawrence before and now with the surgery she believes her features are more refined to where she resembles her more.

Erm. Not exactly the twin effect I would expect for that amount of money. I guess there is a resemblance if you look long enough.

According to Kitty’s doctor, attempting to resemble celebrities is not a particularly strange request. “Patients come in wanting to have lips like Angelina Jolie, breasts like Scarlett Johansson, Megan Fox,” he said.

As much as I love reading celebrity gossip, I’m not fixated on celebs. I don’t spend my days wondering what Idris Alba is having for breakfast for instance. Celebs have a job to do, yes even Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton and that is to entertain us. The fact that they get paid more than the real heroes such as doctors, nurses and firemen is a debate that never ends well.

There are varying degrees of celebrity obsession from watching every movie that an actor has ever been in, or getting yourself cut to look like a celebrity to stalking them and being super creepy. A lot of the times people who are über -obsessed with a celeb are actually suffering from some form of mental illness but we don’t see it until it’s too late.

I have to wonder if Kitty has some underlying issues, she wouldn’t be the first look at Lil Kim and Michael Jackson.

We need to get better at recognising mental health issues earlier to prevent some of the extreme behaviour that fans and celebrities alike present.
