Bookshelf: Hidden Colors – A look at our history

Popular culture
18 April, 2012

Our story has been hidden or whitewashed over for too many years. It is long past time for black people to know our real history and free ourselves from the shackles of slavery once and for all! We were and are more than slaves!

I recently watched Hidden Colors: The Untold History Of People Of Aboriginal, Moor, and African Descent and found most of it fascinating.

Hidden Colors is a documentary about the real and untold history of people of colour around the globe. The film discusses some of the reasons why the contributions of African and aboriginal people have been left out of the pages of history.

Film maker Tariq Nasheed speaks with scholars, historians, and social commentators who shared their thoughts and facts on controversial issues such as:

  • The original image of Christ
  • The true story about the Moors
  • The original people of Asia
  • The great west African empires
  • The presence of Africans in America before Columbus
  • The real reason slavery was ended

The documentary provided many historical facts about the world not just Africa, which was actually called Kemit and Ethiopia before it was named after Roman General Sipio Aficanus after the capture and death of Hannibal Barca, just one of the many facts that were in this inspiring film.

This documentary also touches on many of the reasons why much of this information has been hidden from the public for so long.

If all you know of our history is slavery and what happened after, then Hidden Colors is for you. If you know that black people were once truly great but don’t know what went wrong, then Hidden Colors will show you.

Hidden Colors cannot cover all our history in one DVD but it should inspire you to want to learn more. If you research you will find that most of the information in this documentary is factual and can be verified. Some information can be viewed as opinions.
