Nomasonto “Mshoza” Mnisi – what were you thinking?

Popular culture
5 May, 2012

This is a video interview featuring Soweto-born singer, Nomasonto Mnisi, commonly known as Mshoza.

In this interview, Mshoza talks openly about bleaching her skin and admits she wants to be as white as Christina Aguilera. Mshoza wants to “look more white” because she truly believes its something that will make her happy.

Watch part two

In the interview with Drum, Mshoza was quoted as saying: “People need to relax. I’m tired of people telling me what to do, how to live my life.

“If they think this skin lightening has something to do with low self-esteem, then they’re wrong . Women across the world use beauty products to lighten their skins and there has never been an issue about it. Why am I being judged for this?”

Two weeks after this video interview with Motswako, Mshoza was rushed to the hospital suspected of attempting suicide. The singer denies this.

In February 2012 Mnisi told Sunday World how her husband left her high and dry.
