Samantha Bee faces backlash over Ivanka Trump comments

Samantha Bee has been the focus of Cancel Culture backlash ever since she made an admittedly poor choice of words while describing Ivanka Trump on her television show, Full Frontal.

The 48-year-old comedian lambasted the Trump administration for the “evil immigration” practices on her political commentary show and claimed that Ivanka Trump was “oblivious” after a White House adviser tweeted a picture of her hugging her child.

While holding a photo of Ivanka holding her infant son, Bee made the following comment: “You know, Ivanka, that’s a beautiful photo of you and your child, but let me just say, one mother to another, do something about your dad’s immigration practices you feckless c***.”

“He listens to you. Put on something tight and low-cut and tell your father to f****** stop it. Tell him it was an Obama thing and see how it goes, OK?”

Bee has had a lot to say about Ivanka Trump in the past. Last year in a Full Frontal segment called “The Greatest Feminists in Feminism Herstory Hall of Lady Fame,” Bee discussed the First Daughter’s accomplishments since her father was elected to the highest office in the country.

According to Bee, she hasn’t accomplished as much as some think.

Ivanka was praised for arranging a meeting between her father and former vice president Al Gore to discuss climate change. In addition, she met with Leonardo DiCaprio, an advocate for environmental issues.

Bee doesn’t think much of these efforts saying: “Meeting with Leo DiCaprio is not a sign that you care about climate change; it’s a sign you were a teenager in the ’90s. She’s not gonna convince her dad climate change isn’t a Chinese hoax. Anyone with a dad knows they have invisible old-man-opinion strength.”

Calls for Bee to be cancelled

Bee’s recent comments have been compared to Roseanne Barr’s racist slur earlier this week, which caused ABC to cancel Barr’s top-rated sitcom reboot of “Roseanne.” ABC and Disney leaders attributed the decision to Barr’s racially charged and repugnant comments about former Obama administration adviser Valerie Jarrett.

Although Bee later apologised, President Trump and his supporters demanded that she be fired from her show.

I would like to sincerely apologize to Ivanka Trump and to my viewers for using an expletive on my show to describe her last night. It was inappropriate and inexcusable. I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it.
