Whitney Houston’s family to star in reality show

Popular culture
14 May, 2012

Whitney Houston’s teenage daughter will star in a reality TV show that follows the family of the deceased singer as they cope with her sudden death earlier this year.

The Lifetime channel says that Bobbi Kristina Brown, 19, Houston’s mother, Cissy, brother Gary and the singer’s manager and sister-in-law Pat Houston, will all appear in the show.

The Houston Family Chronicles will follow Gary and Pat Houston “as they take on their greatest challenge, supporting and guiding Bobbi Kristina as she faces the world alone, without the one person she relied on the most, her mother,” Lifetime said.

Forbes.com are unimpressed with the news and accuses the family of cashing in.

Whitney Houston‘s survivors are starting to act more and more like Michael Jackson‘s family. They’re learning to make money from their late star’s death. Today– three months after Whitney died–they’ve announced a deal with Lifetime Network for a reality series.

This is truly despicable. But even worse than that will be the people who actually sit down to watch this. Who comes up with these crass ideas?

The TV companies are all about money and reality TV shows cost less because they don’t need ‘real’ writers, so any Tom, Dick and Harry can come up with this crap and score a win for the TV studio. You are right though if people didn’t watch them there would be less of them.
